Zamarion K.
Taylor
Nov 20, 2009 — Jun 11, 2026
Zamarion Kortez Taylor, 16, of Petersburg, Virginia, tragically entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Zamarion drew his first breath on November 20, 2009, at 10:10 AM, bringing joy to his loving parents, Shaniqua Lewis and Lewis Taylor. Though his time with us was too brief, the depth of his impact on the hearts of those who knew him will last a lifetime.
A Natural Athlete and Scholar
Even at just 16 years old, Zamarion was a force to be reckoned with, both on the field and in the classroom. He possessed a rare, brilliant mind; he excelled academically and never really had to study—knowledge just came to him naturally. His teachers frequently noted that Zamarion was a beacon of respect and kindness, always maintaining his polite demeanor even when those around him did not. His passion, however truly shined through his love for sports. A gifted athlete, Zamarion excelled at both football and basketball. He played for the recreation leagues in Dinwiddie and Petersburg, dominated the courts at Vernon Johns Middle School, and was thrilled to attend the Charlotte Hornets basketball camp. When he wasn't playing, he was a dedicated fan, cheering on the Washington Commanders and watching his favorite player, Stephen Curry, with the Golden State Warriors.
His Tribe and His Infectious Smile
To know Zamarion was to absolutely love him. Blessed with an infectious smile and a charming personality, he could convince you to do almost anything. He was a master of the phone, staying connected through endless calls and text messages. If you received a surprise Cash App request from Zamarion, you knew you were officially part of his "tribe" and if you hadn't received one yet, you were simply next on his list.
Zamarion loved the simple pleasures of life like most teenagers: gaming with friends on Call of Duty, NBA 2K, and Fortnite, and enjoying a meal at his favorite spot, Cook Out.
He also loved to travel with his family creating beautiful memories on trips to Orlando, Charlotte, Massanutten, and Washington, D.C.
Above all, Zamarion loved being a brother and spending time with his family. He built his own unique "tribe" of loved ones. Zamarion had a way of bringing people together. He often attended the Arlington Road Church of Christ and was active there. He was incredibly blessed to spend his early years being nurtured by his great-grandmother, Emma Lewis.
Family Reunion
Zamarion was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Betty Garris; great grandmother, Emma Lewis; great grandfather, Harold Lewis, cousin, TyJuan Crenshaw and grandfathers, Robert Buford and William Chavis.
