Obituary

On January 14, 2026, God called his little angel, Ya'Sir I. Kelso home. Ya'Sir was born at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Virginia, on October 30, 2025, to Yolando Kelso. Ya'Sir also known as "Boodie," was a fighter from the start. He was born premature  six weeks early. Ya'Sir still fought and grew stronger so he could go home with his family. He thrived every day with his mommy by his side.

Ya'Sir was the Boss Baby ran the nurses in NICU, so they named him, "Sir". He lit up every room he was in. He always was a calm baby and on the other hand very nonchalant and stubborn. One thing for sure he would mean mug you down just like his momma.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Chanelle Kelso; great grandparents, James Robinson, Fletcher Jones, Sr., and Samuel Woodson; great-great grandparents, Helen F. Kelso, Rosa Robinson and Monroe Kelso.

Ya'Sir leaves to cherish his precious and wonderful memory: his mother whom he brought joy to everyday, Yolando T. Kelso; devoted grandmother, Margaret Kelso of Appomattox, Virginia; grandfather, Maurice Jones of Lynchburg, Virginia; great grandmother, Barbara Woodson of Appomattox, Virginia, devoted aunt, Beatrice Kelso of Petersburg, Virginia; two uncles, devoted-Courtney Broggin (Roshalin Neal) of Petersburg, Viriginia and Maurice Jones, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri; very devoted first cousins, ZiKiya Richardson, Anton Richardson (God Daddy), Shamondray Chavis, Jr., Gianni Broggin and Gishaun Broggin, Gishiya Broggin; dedicated god-mothers, Raytrinique Person, Ikea Pennix and Laquita Lewis; god-father, Antonio Thomas; god-sister, Dereon Rives; two god-brothers, Elijah Harris and August Pennix; several devoted friends, Michel'le Smith, Jalisha Richardson and Timara Rich; three other god-sibling; and a host of other family members and friends too numerous to name.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 22, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Lamont A. Hobbs, eulogist.
