Massenburg
Feb 2, 1933 — Aug 4, 2026
Mrs. Wilma Noel Massenburg, 93, wife of the late Glover Massenburg of Petersburg, Virginia, transitioned into eternity peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. She was the daughter of the late William and Levenia Quarles of Richmond, Virginia.
Mrs. Massenburg attended Maggie L. Walker High School in Richmond and later moved to Petersburg, VA. She served her community in the Petersburg School System joyfully serving the students in the cafeterias. Mrs. Wilma, as she was known, was a licensed beautician, paying very close attention to the appearance of her clientele. She was extremely stylish when it came to beauty and fashion. She was a faithful member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg VA. It was at Mount Olivet Baptist Church on Sunday mornings, while her health allowed, that she enjoyed making a joyful noise in the Choir, along with her sister, Barbara Simms.
She adored her family, especially her three sons, along with all of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her sons would often take her with them when traveling to places such as Myrtle Beach, Hawaii, and Las Vegas.
Wilma was known by many of her neighbors on Farmer Street, as a friendly and gracious guardian of her street. She made sure that her home was in order inside and outside! She will be missed by many relatives and friends!
She is survived by her three sons, Lemuel R. Wimbish, Jr. (Diane), Jerome Wimbish (Deloris) and Rev. Dr. LaMont E. Wimbish, Sr. (Jacqueline); grandchildren, Leyshon Wimbish Evans (Chris), Jacenta Wimbish Ellis (Earnest), Leon Kizzie (Melissa), Makini Wimbish Diggs (Renard), LaMont E. Wimbish, Jr. (Shakeeta) and Daniel R.W. Wimbish (Christina); her remaining sister, Elizabeth Davis of Chesapeake Virginia; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Gloria Washington, Sandra Matthews and Barbara Simms; and one brother, William "Reno" Quarles.
