Obituary

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." - 2 Timothy 4 7-8

William Bedford Penn went to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday March 5, 2026. He graced this world for 71 years with kindness, laughter and love, leaving a legacy of faith, fortitude, warmth and wisdom that will endure through the generation.

William was born to the late William C. Penn and Hattie Penn in Winston-Salem, NC on January 19,1955. He graduated and enlisted to the U.S. Army where he traveled the world. After the military, he took on the career of a Correctional Officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and retired after over 25 years.

Family was William's cornerstone. His life was a living testimony of love, dedication and selflessness and he leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on through the many lives he touched.

William's legacy lives on through his children, Hayes J. Penn of Pennsylvania, LaToya F. Colon (Ed) of Virginia and William D. Penn of Florida. William was blessed with several cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and a forever roommate, Mr. Harris. He was also survived by two brothers, John Poston and Carl Poston. William also had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The family would also like to acknowledge the many nurses and staff from his home. We will be forever grateful for the compassionate care you provided every day.

Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing that William now rests safely in the arms of the Savior he loved so dearly. His journey of faith has been completed, and his spirit continues to shine brightly in our hearts.

"Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:21
