Mr. Wilbert Lee Griffin, of 8609 Bellmeadows Terrace, North Chesterfield, VA, departed this life on August 7, 2026, after a long battle under hospice care. He was the son of Richard and Mattie Lee Griffin and was a native of Dinwiddie County, VA.

At an early age, Wilbert confessed to Christ at Gravel Run Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, VA. He served in the United States Army for a short period of time. Wilbert was a retired employee of Honeywell. He had his own trucking company and he also drove school buses.

One of his hobbies on the weekend was playing the guitar with a band of friends to include Nathaniel Pride.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Griffin; his son, Anthony Griffin; and his brothers, Ernest Griffin and Nathaniel Griffin.

Wilbert leaves to cherish his memories his daughter-in-law, Sebrina Griffin; granddaughter, Jasmine Griffin; his caretaker and brother, Richard Griffin (Jacqueline); sisters-in-law, Edna Griffin of Dinwiddie, VA and Brenda Parham (Leon) of Prince George, VA; nieces, Chandra Williams (Wayne) Carla Wilkerson of Dinwiddie, VA and Regina Parham of Prince George, VA; nephews, Nathan Griffin, Gabriel Griffin, Damon Griffin and Kevin Parham; a very dear cousin, Mary Griffin Parham; and a host of step grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

After Wilbert's almost 3-year battle with dementia, the family wishes to give special thanks to the Staff of ABI Health Care and Trinity Hospice; as well as nurses Amanda Tippett and Abby Ludgate and many others.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Alexander Williams, eulogist.
