Wallace Lee
Wesson, Sr.
Jul 27, 1958 — Feb 11, 2026
Mr. Wallace L. Wesson Sr., 67, of 1032 6th Street in Petersburg, Virginia, passed away on February 11, 2026, at MCV Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He was born on July 27, 1958, to the late Kay Frances Wesson.
A Petersburg Man Through and Through
Wallace grew up in Petersburg and received his education through the Petersburg Public School System. He later spent many years working for the City of Petersburg Water Department, showing up day after day with the kind of steady work ethic people could count on. Those who knew him from the Blandford Community and Sugar Hill knew Wallace as someone who was simply himself—real, familiar, and unforgettable.
The Things He Loved
Wallace had his joys—the simple things that made him smile and made him him. He loved his Cadillac cars. He enjoyed his TV shows. And when it came to football, he stayed loyal to Washington through every name and every season—always a Redskins/Commanders fan at heart. But the love that sat deepest was family.
A Love Story: Denise and Wallace
Wallace was a devoted husband, and his greatest partnership in life was the 40 years he shared with his wife, Denise Wesson. Their marriage was built on commitment, loyalty, and the kind of love that doesn't need to be loud to be strong. Denise wasn't just his wife—she was his person. The one who stood beside him through every season. The one who helped make a home, hold a family together, and keep love at the center of it all.
A Proud Father. A Loving PAPA.
Wallace was a proud father and a loving PAPA who found real happiness in the people he loved most. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughter, Ashley Wesson (Mario); his devoted sons, Corey Wesson, Sr. (Domonick) and Christopher Taylor.
And then there were his grandchildren—the ones who could brighten his whole day without even trying. Wallace loved spending time with Donajah Wesson; Waliyah and Walecyah Wesson; Da'Kari Wesson; Corey Wesson Jr.; and Te'Ajah Wesson. Whether it was a visit, a conversation, a laugh, or just having them close by, those moments mattered to him. He wasn't just a grandfather in title—he was comfort, pride, and love wrapped into one.
Love That Reached Beyond Blood
Wallace had a heart that made room for more. He raised and loved many children as his own, leaving a lasting impact on their lives: Rahkera Lyons, Ta'Zhia Thomas, Tyiesha Freeman, Deja Lewis, Demond Thomas, and Danta Thomas.
Preceded in Death
Wallace was preceded in death by his son, Wallace L. Wesson Jr.; his mother, Kay Francis Wesson; his grandmother, Pearl Wesson; his sister, Laverne Wesson; his brother, Lanier Wesson Sr.; his uncles, Charles, Louis, and Lee Wesson; his mother-in-law, Ruth E. Thomas; and his brother-in-law, Curtis W. Thomas.
