Veronica Valencia Jordan Bailey, 53, of Petersburg, VA, affectionately known as "Pooch", departed this life on March 22, 2025. She was born September 2, 1971, to Kathy Jordan and James Ellis, Sr. in Petersburg, VA.

Veronica graduated from Petersburg High School, Class of 1989.  She was baptized under the leadership of Reverend Thomas B. Franklin and became a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ in Petersburg, VA. Veronica was employed at Battlefield Health & Rehab. Center in Petersburg, Virginia. She loved animals.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Ellis, Sr.; grandmother, Georgie B. Jordan; grandfather, Zeb B. Jordan, Sr.; aunt, Bessie M. Scott; uncles, Harold W. Scott, Warren Jordan and Zeb Jordan, Jr. (along with numerous other aunts and uncles); and cousins, Phyllis and Emmanuel Scott.

Veronica leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving and devoted son, Kip E. Bailey; loving and devoted mother, Kathy Jordan; former husband, Kip Bailey, Sr.; seven half sisters and brothers; uncles, Frankie R. Jordan and Steve L. Jordan (Christine Brice); several nieces and nephews; cousins, Priscilla Thomas, Jeanette Scott, Gloria Hardy, Paula Epps, Charde Jones, Matthew Scott and Harold Scott, Jr.; devoted friends, Bonnie Jones, Tracey Johnson and Andrew Nixon; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to name.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Brenda Cherry, eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
