Ms. Vanessa Monique Scott, 58, received her angel wings on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Virginia. She was born on November 8, 1966, the only child of the late Cornelius Scott and Marion Hopson Scott White.

At an early age, Vanessa accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at First Baptist Church Centralia. She later joined Amazing Grace World Fellowship in North Chesterfield, Virginia, where she sang with the Amazing Grace Community Voices of Praise. Through her work with the Mission Ministry, Vanessa, along with her mother, led bingo activities, celebrated birthdays, holidays, and special outings with residents of Lucy Corr Village in Chesterfield, Virginia.

Affectionately known as "Nessie," Vanessa was educated in Chesterfield County Public Schools and went on to earn her Master's in Social Work. She had a servant's heart and was dedicated to making a positive impact in her community. While residing at The Laurels of Bon Air, she served as President of the Patient Advocacy Council, sharing her skills and advocating for fellow residents. She enjoyed cursive writing and writing letters for those unable to do so. Vanessa also encouraged others to practice self-care and present their best self. She always kept her hair styled, nails shaped, and makeup perfectly applied. She was truly a fashionista in her own right!

Although an only child, Vanessa gained many sisters when she joined the Chesterfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 2007. Known to her line sisters as "Sunglow," Vanessa was our ray of sunshine: always pleasant, helpful, and kind. She especially loved attending the chapter's annual Prayer Breakfast celebrations, often accompanied by her mother and grandmother in years past.

Vanessa leaves to cherish her aunts: Delores Thomas, Doris Hunter (Jasper), Joan Williams (Leroy), Jean Kelley; and Joyce Howell. She is also survived by her cousins, her devoted roommates, Ms. Fanita Sawyer and Ms. Melanie Gold, her cherished Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. sisters, her Amazing Grace World Fellowship Church family, and many beloved friends.

A Celebration of Life for Ms. Vanessa M. Scott will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 31, 2025 at Amazing Grace World Fellowship, 5709 Jessup Road, North Chesterfield, Virginia. Pastor LaMont E. Wimbish, Sr. will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. on the day of service.

A wake will be held from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at the funeral establishment where the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Omega-Omega Service will be accorded followed by family visistiation.
