Ursel E.
Bright
Dec 26, 1969 — Jan 9, 2026
Ursel Bright was born on December 26, 1969, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Edvinett Bright and the late Willie Bright, Sr. She gained her wings on January 9, 2026, at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.
Ursel accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Spring Grove, VA. She attended Prince George High School and was employed at various places throughout her working years. She was known to all who met her as warm-hearted, genuine, and one of the sweetest souls you could ever know. Ursel had a special gift for cooking and took great joy in preparing good meals for those she loved. Her life was filled with love, dancing, happiness, joy, and an abundance of laughter that could light up any room.
Above all else, Ursel cherished spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and loved on endlessly. Her nurturing spirit and selfless heart will forever remain in the memories of those blessed to know her.
Ursel was preceded in death by her father, Willie Bright, Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Sarah and Madison Jones; her paternal grandfathers, James Bright and Liamus Jefferson; her paternal grandmother, Hattie Person; her aunt, Mattie Crockett; and bonus family members, Mary and Ebony Howard, along with numerous other close family members and friends.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted mother, Edvinett Bright; her loving sisters, Aleatha Bright, Roshelle Greene, Veronica Bright, and Evona Howard; and one brother, Willie Bright, Jr. She also leaves a very special friend who was a sister, Michelle Davis; her aunts, Brenda Jackson and Edith Jones Grammer; and her uncles, Calvin Howard Patrick and Linwood Jones. Ursel was the proud and devoted mother of four sons, Kendrix Bright, Kendell Bright (Kori), Kavonta Peterson, Sr. (Shaylynn), and Davonte Peterson.
Ursel leaves behind seventeen beloved grandchildren, Kendriana, Keontae, Keimariyon, Elijah, Zarrien, Zayleigh, Kaliyah, Kavonta Jr., Elias, Da'Riyah, Dae'Llyn, Esaias, Kashius, Da'lighla, Ki'Aree, Da'von and Da'Quan; a host of nieces and nephews, including the very devoted Andre Bright, Shanika Bright, Celisha Starks and Jaqual Wesley; a special loving companion and friend, Larry Lane; her cousin, Phyliss Brown; friends, Martha Taylor, Jonathan Wesley, Clarence Maurice Peterson and Michael Grammer; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Ursel's presence was a blessing to everyone she encountered. Her loving spirit, comforting words, and warm smile brought peace and joy to those around her. Though she may be gone from this earthly life, her love will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were touched by her kindness. She will forever be remembered for her strength, compassion, and the unconditional love she so freely gave.
