Obituary

Tyrone A. Nelson was born September 11, 1956, to Marguerite and Roscoe Nelson of Tappahannock, VA. He grew up in a loving home with four brothers and two sisters.

Tyrone was baptized at an early age at St. John Baptist Church in Tappahannock, VA.  He attended Essex High School where he played the saxophone and was in the marching band. He was a United States Army Veteran and was employed at a local mechanic shop located in Chesterfield, VA in his earlier days. At this time and after, he completed many various jobs for many people including painting houses, plumbing, indoor/outdoor housework, mechanical tasks, and many other things. He was very talented and definitely a "Mr. Fix It."

In his spare time, he took pride in cooking and also enjoyed fishing and traveling. He cherished spending time with his late partner of over thirty years, Shirley Roberts, their children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He also liked the Philadelphia Eagles and loved to brag about their last Super Bowl win.

Tyrone was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Nelson; mother, Marguerite Nelson; brothers, Julius Dale Nelson and David Nelson; sister, Rosalind "Terry" Peterson; and longtime partner, Shirley Roberts.

He leaves behind to cherish fond memories: his son, Jamil Roberts of Chesterfield, VA; daughter, Karima Roberts of Chesterfield, VA; grandsons, Jermari and Jasir Roberts both of Chesterfield, VA; two brothers, William Nelson (Alma) of Tappahannock, VA and Reginald Nelson (Norma) of Chester, VA; sister, Wendy Gray (Everett) of Tappahannock, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, two great nieces, cousins, and many close friends.
