Obituary

"I fought a good fight, I finished my course, I have kept the faith; …"  2 Timothy 4:7

On Friday, January 30, 2026, Steve Alexander Turner peacefully transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal peace with the Lord.  Steve was born September 7, 1960, to the late Elbert Turner, Sr. and Marie L. Turner in Chesterfield, VA.  He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Collins; daughter, Jessica Turner; his brother, Ralph S. Turner; and sisters, Maxine T. Brown (Byron Sr.) and Hazel T. Turner.

Steve accepted Christ at an early age at Brown Grove Baptist Church in Midlothian, VA.  He was a product of the Chesterfield County School System.  After high school, he served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army.  He was employed with Chesterfield County for over 16 years where he served in numerous capacities. He also served as the Maintenance Supervisor at Virginia Commonwealth University.  He was loved by his WaWa family, where he worked for 15 years.  He was a joy to many with his infectious smile.

Steve was a humble man and devoted servant of God who cherished his family and many friends and was well loved and respected by all who knew him.  Steve's faith was unwavering.  He knew that all things were possible through the Lord and stood beside his testimony of God's mercy and blessings.  Steve's life was filled with many memories.  He loved life and he loved to have a good time with family and friends.  He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys team.  No matter how bleak the season, he never lost hope just as his faith never wavered in God.

Steve leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted best friend and wife of 38 years, Earlene Turner, his sons, Jamie Jones (LaTisha), Terrance Turner, Sr. (Ashley) and Anton Daniels;  his loving grandchildren, Trebor Randolph, Kayeen Jones, Brendan Jones, Xavion Jones, Terrance Turner, Jr., Emory Rose Turner, Brayden Gill, Aubree Reynolds, and Cameron Reynolds; and his precious goddaughter, Madison Gary.  He also leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Elbert Turner, Jr. (Virginia), Adam M. Turner and Tony D. Turner; eight sisters, Maretha T. Mosby, Brenda T. Marable, Suzanne T. Cooper (Donald), Everlene T. Jones (James), Joyce T. Lewis, Geneva T. Giles (James Sr), Dale E. Turner, and Daisy T. Duncan; sisters-in-law, Danette Cooper, Arlene Mason Crockett, Valerie Prosise, Alfornia Moore,  Farina Booker, Brenda Riddick (Mark), Rita Atkins, and Burnette Turner; brothers-in-law, Derrick Moore and Ricky Atkins (Shawn); devoted friend, Herb McGill; as well as a host of doting cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, his church family, and friends.
