Mrs. Shirley Mae Haynes, departed this life at the beautiful age of 83, on Saturday March 21, 2026 at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She left us, likely heading to a secret fishing hole where the fish are biting and the weather is forever perfect.

Mrs. Shirley Mae Haynes was born September 4, 1942 in Petersburg, VA to the late William B. Blowe and Bertha E. Broadie Blowe. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Matthew E. Blowe. Shirley graduated from J.E.J Moore High School Class of 1962. She retired from Wackenhut Security.

Shirely Haynes (BA-MA) was a "Fishing Lady," she was the happiest on the boat with all her family and friends in the middle of the water, making a wager of who was gonna catch the first fish. Her other sanctuary was the kitchen. She didn't just cook, she put love in her food. To her a recipe was merely a suggestion, season to taste a spiritual practice. Famous Mica Drive chicken and fish, if you showed up she would cook right away for you and you cannot say no. Shirley Mae Haynes was the glue that held the Family together. She loved everyone and never knew a stranger. To know Shirley and that smile is to love her.

She will be remembered by her loving, caring family: one loving brother, William David Blowe (Helen) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Shirley kids, Ashya Haynes of Prince George, VA, Malisha Spencer (Arnold Buck) of Petersburg, VA, Rashid Haynes (Teresa) Orlando, FL, Ladisha Haynes Charlotte, NC, Fatima Haynes San Pablo, CA, Darrell Haynes (Denise) Prince George, VA, Latoya Simmons of Atlanta, GA, grandkids, Isaiah Haynes (Tasha), Makish Brown (Jarrell), Nathaniel (Akhi) Haynes (Serita), Kylisha Haynes, Elijah Haynes, Jamal Brown, Jamel Brown, Rashid Haynes 2nd, Semira Haynes, Rochelle Haynes, Quincy Ellis, Shaniah Haynes, Rakim Delapara, Anisa Delapara, Tevin Haynes, Imani Haynes, Sierra Haynes, Darrell Haynes III, Darrell Haynes, Jr., Tyreese Haynes, Teonea Haynes, Damika Brehon, Jamal Brehon, and Charmese Saunders; thirty plus great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephew, cousin, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Phillip E. Knight, Sr., eulogist. The interment to follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

A wake will be held from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, April 3, 2026, at the funeral establishment.
