Shirley M. Harrison, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and matriarch, was born on August 20, 1937, in Seaboard, North Carolina. She was the middle daughter of the late Rufus and Nina DeLoatch. On January 28, 2026, she peacefully answered God's call and entered into eternal rest.

In her early years, Shirley lived in Newark, New Jersey. She moved to Petersburg, Virgina, in 1978, where she lived with her husband, the late James A. Harrison. They were married for 41 years. In her later years, Shirley lived a life anchored in faith, family, and quiet strength in Columbia, South Carolina. She was also preceded in death by her dear sister, Laura Bess.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sister, Glovenia Harper; two sons, Darrell Andre DeLoatch of Florida and Keith Harrison (Cynthia) of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tameshiah, Lennell, Lynnette and Christopher; and her great grandchildren, Champion, Diera, Jordan, and Mya. She is also lovingly remembered as an aunt, grandaunt, and great grandaunt to a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Shirley was a woman of enduring faith whose life reflected grace, humility, and steadfast love. She was a source of wisdom, comfort, and encouragement to generations of family. Her legacy is one of resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.

While we mourn her earthly absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life. Shirley Harrison has completed her journey. She fought a good fight and now rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her legacy will continue to live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA. The interment to follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
