Obituary

The Lord in his infinite wisdom called Sharon Louise Embry Golden to eternal rest and peace on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg VA. Sharon was born on November 2, 1955, in Carson, VA to Walter Franklin Embry and Ella Louise Branch Embry of Carson, VA.

At one years old, Sharon relocated with her family to Brooklyn, NY, not soon after, Sharon got a baby sister (Wanda) and Sharon's journey in New York began.  In those formative years, Sharon was inspired by the Arts. She had a talent for canvas painting and a love of music. The family went from Brooklyn to Queens and then later settled in Central Islip, NY. That is where she graduated from Central Islip High School in 1973, the same year she became a "Big Sis" (LaShawn) again.  Sharon then attended Harriman College where she graduated in 1977 with an Associate's degree in Arts in Fashion and Merchandise.

In 1980, Sharon enlisted in the U. S. Army and served her country for 4 years. In the Army she met her husband, Lawerence Golden and they were married until Larry's death in 2019.  Sharon's husband was career military serviceman, and they traveled to different parts of the country and world. She loved to travel and discover new locations. Sharon had one son, Anthony Lawerence Golden in 1988. Anthony was Sharon's apple of her eye.  She had many job positions in her life, but none fit her as much as being a mother to her only child.

Sharon Louise Embry Golden was preceded in death by her husband, Lawerence Eugene Golden. Sharon leaves to cherish her memory: her loving son, Anthony Lawerence Golden of Herndon, VA; devoted parents, Ella and Walter Embry of Carson, VA; beloved sisters and brother-in-law, Wanda (Embry) Coleman and Reginald Coleman of Fairfax, VA, and LaShawn Embry of Carson, VA; three aunts, Roslyn Caldwell Ollivierra of Great Bearington, MA, Minnie Embry of Petersburg, VA, and Vallie Embry of Dover, DE; loving nephews and niece, Isaiah Embry-Zeigler, Jordan Embry-Zeigler of Carson VA, and Rachel Coleman of Fairfax, VA; and scores of cousins that Sharon loved and enjoyed during her journey of life, Kelly Mattocks Parker, Alvin Mattocks, Tracy Mattocks Frie, Jamarlon Ollivierra, Willam Parham, Larry Harvell, Montique (Que) Winfield, Stanley Winfield, John Winfield, Carl Winfield, Vanessa Bazemore, Barbara Ann White, Karen Gray, Gloria Cook, Yvette Cook, Keith Jackson, and Darrius Embry.
