Obituary

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." - Psalm 91:1

It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, SFC (Ret.) Albert Lewis Bell who transitioned from labor to reward on April 29, 2026.

Albert Bell was born on August 19, 1936, in Nashville, TN to the late James Albert and Beulah Christine Bell. He received his early education in the Nashville Public School System and was a graduate of Pearl High School. Following his graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. Albert's twenty-seven years of service were marked by dedication and discipline. He was a man who believed in doing things the right way, standing firm in his values and his faith.

He was united in marriage to the late Maryland Bell, and together they raised two daughters, Patrice and Theresa. He cherished his family and took considerable pride in the life that he and his wife built together.

Above all, Albert loved the Lord. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all that he did. He found immense joy in discussing the Bible, sharing his understanding, and engaging in conversations about God's word. His passion for God's word and his unwavering belief left an impression on everyone he encountered.

Albert Bell was known for his kindness, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of service, devotion, generosity, and spiritual strength that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents and wife, Albert was preceded in death by his siblings, Edgar, Elmer Lee, James Russell, Conrad, Michael, Prince, and Janice.

Here to cherish his memory are his daughters, Patrice and Theresa; along with grandsons, James and Aaden; great-granddaughter, Jaliyah; his siblings, Judy and Alvin; a brother in-law, Oliver; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Special thanks is extended to all of Albert's doctors and nurses at the McGuire Veterans Hospital, his in-home healthcare team, and caregiver, Ms. Jamita "Cookie" Winston, who took such excellent and loving care of our father. Also to his nephew, Terry Mayes who our dad was very fond of, and his wife Pat for always making sure to stop in and visit throughout the years; his cousins that he loved dearly, Sylvia and Stacey Patterson, Ollie Gordon, and George Crenshaw who always made sure that they called on his birthday and every holiday. Those visits and phone calls meant so much to our dad. And to his buddy, Alonzo Davis, who was always there to lend a helping hand in any way that he could.
