Sean C. Williams

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…” —2 Timothy 4:7–8

In His infinite wisdom, God called Sean home on the morning of September 10, 2026, at Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Henrico, VA.

Sean Cameron Williams was born on July 6, 1971, in Richmond, VA, to Jerome D. Williams Jr. and Joyce J. Webb. As a young man, Sean was dependable, courageous, and determined, and he grew into a kind, supportive, and faithful husband, father, and son. During his long illness, Sean, strengthened by his faith in God, defied the odds time and again, surprising many medical professionals. Early that Thursday morning, however, he received eternal rest from all his struggles.

During Sean’s younger years, he could often be found roaming the Blandford Community alongside his best friend and cousin, Rodney. The two shared a close bond and many childhood adventures, creating memories that would remain with them throughout their lives. As teenagers, Sean and Rodney worked as paperboys and spent countless hours playing basketball at the local park in East Walnut Hill. These early years were filled with family, friendship, laughter, and the simple joys of growing up in a close-knit community. Sean’s spiritual foundation was also established at an early age. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Oak Street A.M.E. Zion Church, beginning a faith journey that would remain an important part of his life.

Sean graduated from Petersburg High School in 1990 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology from Norfolk State University. Sean’s coworkers described him as a hardworking, respectful, and thoughtful team member. He retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) Freight as a network engineer in 2013. Sean was skilled with computers and talented in many other ways. He could often be found in his garage listening to music, changing the oil in his cars, or landscaping his yard. Sean enjoyed spending time with his family. He proudly called himself a “master griller” and was often found behind the grill or smoker preparing his famous steaks, burgers, and ribs. Sean was also known for making a delicious pot of greens.

Sean is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Cheryl Williams, and his daughter, Kiana Williams, whom he was proud to raise as a “Girl Dad,” both of Prince George County; his beloved mother, Joyce J. Webb of Petersburg, VA; his sister, the Rev. Katina Williams of Petersburg, VA; his godchildren, Mya and Tyler Johnson of Chester, VA, and Deven Roache of Petersburg, VA; his brother-in-law, Charles Mayes, Jr. (Seran) of Henrico County; his sister-in-law, Pamela Roache (Donnie) of Disputanta; his aunts and uncle, Sandra Johnson, Diane Williams, and Conrad Johnson (Tiarra); his cousins, Rodney Johnson (Erika) of Chester, VA and Conrad Johnson, Jr. of Petersburg, VA; his nephew, Demario Roache (Rachel) of Henrico County; his uncle, buddy, and friend, Roy Lee Granderson of Disputanta, VA; and his devoted friend, Olu Orange of Los Angeles, CA.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the exceptional care they provided to Sean.
