Mrs. Ruth M. Harris, age 78, of Petersburg, Virginia, transitioned from this life on January 16, 2026, to her heavenly home surrounded by family and friends.

Ruth was born on December 22, 1947, in Prince George County, Virginia, to the late Alfred and Cassie White.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Harris, Rosa Aldrich, Casserine King, and Nelly Parham; and her brothers, Joe White and Peter Sykes.

Ruth lived a life-filled with kindness, strength, joy and unwavering love for family and friends. Ruth enjoyed talking on the phone to her two sons every day, dancing, spending time with family and sitting on the porch getting fresh air.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Frank Harris; two sons, Wallace White and Frank Harris, Jr. (Katrina Hudson); devoted sister, Helen Jones (Joseph Moss); devoted niece, Shanndale White-Benjamin; sister-in-law, Archimette White; brother-in-law, Leroy Harris; devoted cousins, Jimmie Brown.

Ruth legacy continues through her grandchildren, Darius Robinson, Devon Harris, Dewonn Harris, Devon Harris, Zquan Jones, Samahray Beloate, Samya Beloate, Jamira Saunders, and Omari Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Ruth was blessed with many friends and extended family who enriched her life. She was especially grateful for Katrina Hudson who always came around to check on her.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Alexander Williams, eulogist.
