Russell Johnson was born on October 7, 1952, to the late Mary Smith Johnson and Sandy Johnson. He departed this life on November 9, 2025.

Russell was employed with Virginia Concrete for many years as a handyman. He enjoyed fishing, football, wrestling, having parties and most of all telling jokes. He was an amazing man who touched the lives of many.

Along with his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his son, Eugiene Fuller; stepdaughter, Tara Browder; stepson, Charles Bish; and his grandson, Hakim Browder.

Russell leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Karen Johnson; daughter, April Browder (Antonio); sons, Russell Johnson, Jr. and Delvon Banks; grandchildren, Ty'Layjha Ruffin, Ty'Asijha Ruffin, Ta'Myiah Browder, Timothy Browder and Ty'Lexcia Browder; great grandchildren, Loyal Browder, Ke'Yami Wyatt Ruffin, Ky'iior Wyatt and Raiyn Brandt; sisters, Dorothy Wilson, Barbara James (Winston), Paulette Howard (George), Laverne Butler and Louise Butler; brothers, Johnny Johnson, Robert Lee Johnson (Nancy) and Donnell Johnson (Tamika); sister-in-law, Mary Johnson; devoted friends, Tom and Brenda who he could call on for anything; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Russell was a well-known person. He loved his wife and children dearly. He always looked out for his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Papa", making sure they were happy, and they gave him so much love. He will truly be missed.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Kassandra Bullock, Pastor. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
