Ricky E. Robinson, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and devoted member of his community, was born on October 21, 1958. He peacefully departed this life on September 18, 2026.
Ricky had a joyful spirit and a kind heart. He was the type of person always willing to go the extra mile—not only for his family, but for co-workers, friends, and even people he met in passing. Helping others came naturally to him and his generosity and compassion was among the qualities that made him special.
Ricky dedicated more than two decades to the Petersburg schools, working at numerous elementary schools throughout the Petersburg area before retiring in 2024. His love for children was evident in everything he did. He became affectionately known as "Mr. Ricky" and "Uncle Ricky" to many children whose lives he touched. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and willingness to help made him a beloved presence in the schools and in the community.
Ricky had a deep love for automobiles, especially his beloved Lincoln, which he took great pride in keeping immaculate. He also enjoyed listening to old school R&B music and watching westerns. These simple pleasures brought him great joy and provided many cherished memories for those around him.
Ricky was a faithful member of Power of Praise Bibleway Church where he was baptized in 2001. He remained a dedicated and loyal member until his health began to decline.
Ricky was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Easter; father, Eugene Shands; maternal grandfather, Hosea Holcomb, Sr.; and his maternal grandmother, Adlina Winfield Shands.
Ricky’s memory will forever be cherished by his children, Ricky Jr., Branden, Reginald and Randy Robinson of New York City, Britney Robinson of Delaware and Di’Jon Robinson of Georgia; grandchildren, Nyla, Sylar, Yasmine, Randy Jr. and Rae’loni Robinson of New York City, and Samiya Robinson, Ahmir, Kareem and Asahd Goldsboro-Davis of Delaware; and his God-given daughters, Niketa Nelson of Georgia and Keisha Gardley of Delaware.
He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Jeffrey Robinson (Tanya) of North Carolina, Andrenette “Peaches” Robinson who was also his devoted caregiver of North Dinwiddie, Wayne Robinson of Petersburg, Karen Rogers of Colonial Heights, and Cynthia Turner (Keith) of North Dinwiddie; aunts, Brenda Battle and Celia Mckeever of Petersburg, Patricia Holcomb of New York City, Darlene Gibbs (Dallas) of Colonial Heights, Paulette Allen and Diane Clanton of North Dinwiddie, Cassandra, Paula and Gwendolyn Jones of Petersburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, the faculty and staff of Walnut Hill Elementary School, the Nelson, Whitlock, Bates and Lancaster families and many more cherished and lifelong friends.
Ricky leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and service that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His presence brought warmth and joy to the lives of many, and his memory will continue to be cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Though Ricky is no longer with us physically, the love he gave, the lives he touched, the children he encouraged, and the kindness he showed to others will continue to live on. His family and friends will remember his great sense of humor, his generous heart, his love of family, and the unmistakable way he made people feel welcomed and cared for.
A special thanks for caring for our loved one to Mrs. Kelva Edmonds of Charles City Medical Group, Centerwell Home Health, Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Encompass, Tri-Cities Hospital, and Magnolia Acute Post.
