Ricky DuBois was born Sunday, August 7, 1955, to Bertha and Robert DuBois in Stilson, GA. He was educated in the New York City Public School System. At an early age, Ricky was baptized in Jesus Name and received the Holy Ghost, under Bishop Christopher Dobbins.

Ricky was an entrepreneur, owning several businesses. A strong pillar in his community, it was at his popular video store in Brooklyn where he mentored children in the neighborhood, creating a safe haven after school to do homework. Ricky was very community minded, taking on the concerns of and helping his elderly neighbors.

Ricky met and married the love of his life, Florence Harris, in August of 1975. They were married for over 32 years and were blessed with two sons. After the death of his wife, Ricky relocated his family to Virginia to raise his sons with the help of his mother.

Ricky was preceded in death by his father Robert; wife, Florence; brothers, Danny and Wayne; and sisters, Deneen and Allison. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his sons, Theodore and Davone; mother, Bertha DuBois; sister, Doreen Taylor (Kenneth); brother, Mark Groover (Demetria); sister-in-law, Cynthia Fuller (Louis); brother-in-law, Albert Harris, Jr.; six aunts, one uncle, five nieces, twelve nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 30, 2025, in the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.
