Obituary

Reverend Dr. Thomas E. Tucker, Jr., of North Dinwiddie, VA, peacefully entered eternal rest on November 9, 2025, at his home. A devoted husband, father, and lifelong servant of God, Rev. Tucker dedicated 49 and a half years of ministry to the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Zion Church, faithfully pastoring congregations across West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, and Maryland.

Born in Bluefield, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Rev. Thomas E. Tucker, Sr. and Velma M. Tucker. He was married to his beloved wife of 49 years, Jacqueline P. Gray, and together they were blessed with two children, Terri and Thomas III.

Rev. Tucker was a graduate of Bluefield State College, Hood Theological Seminary, and received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Livingstone College. Throughout his ministry, he was known for his compassion, humility, and unwavering faith in God. Beyond the pulpit, he served his community through youth mentorship, outreach programs, and leadership in numerous civic and church organizations. During his free time, Rev. Tucker enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and photography.

Rev. Dr. Thomas Edward Tucker, Jr. was preceded in death by his nephew, Anthony Tucker, Jr. and niece, Tia Tucker. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Jacqueline; his loving children, Terri and Thomas III; siblings, Bishop Anthony Tucker (Shirley), Cecilia Tucker Myers, and Shelia Tucker-Saunders; nieces and nephews, Sakura, Kristen, ShaCora, Jordan, Nicholas, and Ayden; extended family; and a host of church members and friends whose lives were touched by his ministry.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." — Matthew 25:21
