Phyllis Ann
Wilder Hill
Dec 5, 1941 — May 18, 2026
"I fought a GOOD fight … I held on as long as I could"
Always Remember, I Gave Out Before I Gave Up and I Let Go and I Let God!
The final Chapter in God's Blessed Book of Life was concluded in the early hours of Monday, May 18, 2026, as Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Auntie, Cousin, Neighbor and esteemed friend, Mrs. Phyllis Ann Wilder Hill, lovingly referred to as "Momma", "Grandma", "MeMe", Aunt Phyllis, "PA" and just plain old "Phyllis" peacefully exchanged her Earthly Life for Eternal Life! To God Be The Glory!
A lifelong resident of Chesterfield County, Virginia, PHYLLIS was a gift from God, the "baby girl" of her siblings and the last surviving offspring born to the late Welford Mason Wilder, Sr. and Lillie Mae Stovall Wilder on December 5, 1941.
What a wonderful reunion at Heaven's Gates with her loving parents; her loving husband, the late Bennie A. Hill; her siblings, the late Edna Talley, LaVern Eaddy, Welford Wilder, Jr. (the late Alenia B. "Polly") and Lillie Kemp; her daughter-in-love, the late Margie Y. Reese; her granddaughter Sierra, and her great-grandchildren, Damari, Kamari and Kimora.
PHYLLIS was educated through the Chesterfield County Public Schools having attended Kingsland Elementary School and The Historic George Washington Carver High School.
PHYLLIS' work ethic began at a very early age as she was employed in her parent's restaurant the infamous "Wilder's". She was an exceptional short order cook who developed into a wonderful preparer of delicious meals for her entire family and friends. She was then employed by Virginia Folding Box, Inc. and ultimately began her career as a Machine Operator with Philip Morris USA where she retired with over 20 years of faithful service.
PHYLLIS was United in Holy Matrimony to the late Melvin Jerry Reese. Their union was blessed with five amazing children, Anita Renee, Dwight Jerry, Carla Jean, Anthony Durrell and Tracie Janet. She was later joined in Marriage to the late Bennie Alfona Hill. Their union was blessed with their loving daughter, Tonia Annette.
Under the spiritual guidance of her parents, PHYLLIS began her faithful, lifelong journey as a Servant of God at a very early age. She was baptized by the late Reverend W. B. Ball at the Historic First Baptist Church Centralia. She attended services and worshiped God until her health began to decline. Even in the midst of her debilitating state, she often spoke of "how good God has been to her" as she treasured her moments with her children and grandchildren who were her "heartbeats" and the "apple of her eyes." Her home was a welcomed haven of rest and enjoyment to all, especially on Sundays, holidays and family gatherings. Her family was her heart and soul!
PHYLLIS had a beautiful smile filled with her infamous laughter and comical demeanor. She never met a stranger and always gave a helping hand to anyone in need. We Thank God that her struggles, pain, disappointments and sorrows are now over! God has truly blessed our lives with an incredible woman of sacrifice, strength, determination and love!
The blessed life, endearing love and lasting legacy of PHYLLIS will be cherished and celebrated by her loving family and friends to include: her loving and devoted children, Anita R. Reese, Dwight J. Reese, Carla R. Fitzgerald (James), Anthony D. Reese, Tracie W. Kirkland (Robert) and Tonia A. Hill; her loving "grands", Tamika R. Ambani (Eric), Tyre A. Reese (Kristen), Ebone M. White, Antoine P. Fitzgerald, Sr. (Crystal), Antonio D. Reese, Morgan K. Hubbard (Ryan), Maya L. Kirkland, Samuel C. Kirkland and Sanai A, Harris; her adorable "great grands", Amaya, Kendrick (KJ), Berkeley, Angelo, Mason, Zyan, James, Antoine Jr., and Olivia; a loving sister-in-love, Shirley H, Young; a godson, Dr. H. Bertram "Bert" Boisseau; thirteen nieces and nephews, devoted niece and namesake Phyllis A. Talley; a loving and devoted cousin, Pauline C.
