Phillip R.
Puckett
Aug 31, 1949 — Apr 7, 2026
"The Puckett. 10 Feet Tall & Bullet Proof"
Phillip Ronald Puckett, age 76, passed away on April 7, 2026, in Henrico, Virginia, at the home of a beloved friend.
Born in Momeyer, North Carolina, Phillip was known to many simply as "The Puckett," a name that carried both respect and affection among those who knew him. He was a decorated United States Army Vietnam Veteran. Following his military service, he built a career with CSX Railroad.
After a life-changing event, Phillip became paralyzed, a challenge he faced with remarkable strength and resilience. Though he spent over half of his life paralyzed, he never lost his passion for living. His love for hunting, fishing, NHRA, and NASCAR, along with his passion for firearms, remained constant, and his spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who supported Phillip over the years, including his VA family—his doctors and nurses at the McGuire Veterans Hospital—whose compassion, dedication, and kindness meant more than words can fully express.
He is survived by his three children, Bradley Puckett, Shannon Puckett, and Jennifer Puckett; his brother, Wayne Puckett and wife Kim; his sisters, Carol Puckett and Gina Frazier and husband Steve.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Smith; his father, Willie Ollie Puckett; his mother, Louise Jackson Puckett; and his stepmother, Dorothy Chewning Puckett.
Phillip will be remembered for his service, his resilience, and the strong presence that earned him the name.
A service of love and remembrance will be held 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.
