Obituary

Today, the Ridges family would like to celebrate and honor the life and legacy of a man who was dearly loved by all who knew him, Mr. Percell "Boy" Ridges, Sr., who departed this life on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at his residence.

A Bennettsville, South Carolina native was born on September 18, 1951, to the late Emma Katie Lemon Ridges and Sam Ridges, Jr. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church in Wallace, South Carolina.

Boy was a quiet and kind-hearted man who loved people, especially his family. He also enjoyed watching Western movies and television shows.

Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of occupations. He was employed as a butcher with Diamond Meat Company, an electrician for the City of Bennettsville, South Carolina, and he worked as a roofer.

He was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife the late Daisy Mae Ridges, with whom he shared a life of love and devotion.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, DeBrecca Ridges.

Percell leaves to cherish his fond memories to his daughter, Eva "MayMay" Chevelle Ridges; his son, Percell "Rerun" Ridges, Jr.; grandchildren, Michael Ridges, Zikiyah Ridges (Isaias), Dazyona, Zha'loni Tucker-Ridges and Mason Ridges; brother, John L. Ridges of Lexington, North Carolina; sister, Christine Pompey of Lexington, North Carolina; cousin/raised as a brother, Bobby David of Wendell, North Carolina; four nieces and three nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; brothers-in-law, Tom McCrae of Petersburg, Virginia and James McCrae (JanieMae) of Bennettsville, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Arnetha Peterkin of Bennettsville, South Carolina; his caregiver, Antonie "Ace" Montgomery; his close friends, Curtis Spain, Larry Hargraves and Daniel "DJ Foot" Smith; devoted friend, Michael Wesson; and numerous other friends too many to name.

A special thank you to At Home Hospice, Colonial Heights; his nurse, Makayla, his social worker, Tiffany; his chaplain, Corey; and his Dr. Tahir Allauddin and nurse, Sherry Bruce.

Boy will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Yet, we find comfort in knowing that no matter how deeply we love someone, we must trust God when He calls His child home and reclaims what He graciously lent to us.
