Obituary

With hearts full of love and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Patricia Moore who passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 66.

Born in Petersburg, Virginia to Willie and Essie Westbrook, Patricia was a beacon of strength, warmth, grace, and laughter. She dedicated her life to her family, always providing a listening ear, a comforting embrace, a smile and unwavering support to everyone she loved.

After graduating from Peterburg High School, Patricia pursued a career with the federal government expanding over thirty years. As a military wife, she traveled across the county and overseas, where she spent time in Germany, Texas, Oklahoma, and Washington State. After returning to her home state of Virginia, she  worked as a Human Resources professional who played a vital role in military personnel assignments, promotions, and deployments for service members and their families. It was here that she successfully retired after years of service.

Beyond her resume, Patricia's true passion was her family. She was the cornerstone figure; a sister, daughter and fierce advocate for her children and grandchildren. Whether she was sharing her famous pot roast, attending church, or offering a listening ear, she always made everyone around her feel valued, loved, acknowledged and comforted. She regularly reached out to family members to support and always spread love to the ones that meant the most to her. She was a natural problem-solver and if there was anything within her power to help another, she would always be there.

Patricia was a warrior who faced challenges of life with courage, quiet grace, a sharp wit and faith in the heavenly father. She instilled in her sons the importance of hard work, kindness, love, humility and always doing the right thing despite the result. She made many sacrifices for her loved ones even to her final breath.

While she will be sorely missed by those that know and love her, it's firmly in our hearts that she made the absolute most of her time with us and had zero regrets. It is expected that we will continue where she left off.  Our gift to her would be to continue to live and love one another until we see her face again.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Moore; her father, Deacon Willie Westbrook; and her mother-in-law, Theresa Moore.

She is survived by her two sons, Marcus (Gisette) and Jason Moore of Woodbridge Virginia; three cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Janessa and Skye Moore; mother, Essie Westbrook; sister, Sheila Kelley; sister-in-law, Rhonda Jackson (Tyrone) of Maryland; nephews, Ian Kelley of Clovis, New Mexico and Desmond Dowdell; niece, Javonni Lanier of Maryland, goddaughter, Shanta Edwards of Petersburg, VA; and numerous related family and friends. Finally, she leaves to cherish her memories, her life parter, Ray Farley that loved, protected and encouraged her to live life to the fullest; and also a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church 2223 South Crater Road, Petersburg, VA, Bishop Jeffrey L. Reaves, Sr., Pastor, eulogist.
