Patricia L.
Jones
Dec 14, 1959 — Jun 29, 2026
Patricia Louise Jones, of South Chesterfield, Virginia, entered eternal rest on June 29, 2026. Born on December 14, 1959, in St. Augustine, Florida, she was the second of three children born to the late Bernard Leon Jones and Mildred Mercer Jones. Her life reflected a quiet strength, a generous heart, and a deep appreciation for the people and natural beauty around her.
Patricia moved with her family from Florida to Virginia during her elementary school years. From an early age, she developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, a love she carried throughout her life. Her favorite color was green, and she often surrounded herself with images of flowers, landscapes, and sunsets. She also had a fondness for animals and was a longtime member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Patricia loved to read, especially mystery and suspense novels, and enjoyed contemporary jazz music.
Patricia had a lifelong curiosity about how the human body worked, an interest that shaped her studies and later career. She graduated from Matoaca High School in 1977 and went on to attend Virginia State University, where she deepened her love of science and earned a bachelor's degree in biology. She later continued her studies at Ohio State University, earning a master's degree in public health education and preparing for work that reflected her interest in health and the environment.
Throughout her career, Patricia worked in several fields that supported the health and wellbeing of others. She served as a medical assistant, caring for residents at the former Virginia Center for the Deaf and Blind. She also performed health-screening tests as a lab technician at Roche Biomedical Labs and tested water samples against environmental quality standards for the State Labs of Virginia.
Quiet by nature, Patricia was kindhearted and generous, with a quick wit and an unexpected sense of humor. She brought thoughtfulness, intelligence, and gentle warmth to those who knew her, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard E. Jones; and is survived by her sister, Annette Moore (Jerry) of Fairfax, Virginia; two nephews, Lincoln Moore of Verona, Wisconsin, and Evan Moore of Atlanta, Georgia; and other close relatives and friends.
