Otis C.
Taylor "Big O"
Apr 26, 1961 — Jul 5, 2026
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, God called His Heavenly King, Otis C. Taylor, affectionately known as "Big O," to eternal rest.
Otis was born on April 26, 1961, in Hopewell, Virginia, to his loving mother, Vernell Taylor, and his late father, Otis Taylor.
He attended the Hopewell Public School System and, at an early age, accepted Christ as his personal Savior, establishing a foundation of faith that remained with him throughout his life.
Otis was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was truly the life of every gathering, bringing laughter, love, and unforgettable memories wherever he went. He cherished family functions and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. His warm spirit, generous heart, and joyful personality will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernett Taylor; his brother, Terry Tyler; his grandparents, Harold and Francis Taylor and Henry B. and Bernice Jones.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving mother, Vernell Taylor; his beloved son, Christopher Russ (Schantal); his cherished grandson, Solomon Ward; four sisters, Geneva Taylor, Pamela Taylor, Tamika Mayo, and Shannon Thomas; two brothers, Onell Taylor and Rico Thomas; his aunts, Earline Allen, Lorraine Powell, and Irene Jones; his uncle, Raymond Jones; two devoted nieces, Tiara Taylor and Comicha Brown (Jermaine); three bonus daughters whom he loved dearly, Salecia, Bianca, and Sharika; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, lifelong friends including Bernard, Ronnie Jones, Head Wyche, Martin Parker, Ben Jackson, and Preston Scott, as well as a host of loving neighbors and friends.
The Taylor family sincerely thanks everyone for the love, prayers, kindness, and support shown during this difficult time. Your compassion and encouragement are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.
