Oreette P.
Peterson
Sep 22, 1962 — Sep 25, 2025
Titus 1:2 "In hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began."
With deep sorrow and abiding faith, we announce that our beloved, Oreette Patrice "Pat" Peterson has completed her earthly journey and entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2025. Truly, God knew best when He called His faithful servant from labor to reward.
Oreette was born on September 22, 1962, in Petersburg, Virginia to the late Thurman Sr. and Mary Peterson. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Amanda Peterson; three brothers, Dondril, Thurman Jr., and Malcolm Peterson, and her nephew, Trevelle Barner.
Oreette was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1981, she pursued her desire to become a nurse and after completing the program she returned home to care for her ailing father-an act that reflected her unwavering devotion to family. Following years of service in the medical field, Oreette later transitioned to a career with Virginia Linen, where she worked diligently until her retirement.
Left to cherish her memory: her three devoted sisters, Natalie Clanton (James, deceased), Beverly O'Neal (Walter), Zena Peterson (Malcolm, deceased) and her sister-in-love, Gladys "Maria" Peterson. Oreette also was blessed with a devoted friend of 49 years, Gary "Bay" Tucker and lifelong friends, Janet Taylor and Steve Powell. She was a proud and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart, Lisa-Michelle Allmond, Verrone O'Neal (Tameka), Reckoe O'Neal (Amber), Miconda Peterson, Quentin O'Neal (Shomeka), Caselle Peterson, Tateasha Odom (Nasir), Dennis Peterson (BriYanna), Angeline Gaymon and Teresa Peterson; as well as a host of great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends.
Although Oreette was a woman of quiet strength and unshakable faith, she also loved to have fun and was the queen of mischief. She was always scaring her family members, cracking jokes, and forcing her nieces and nephews to watch scary movies with her. She honored her parents, cherished her family, and carried herself with grace, dignity, and resilience. Even in the face of life's many challenges, she leaned on God's peace and trusted His promises. She was a role model to all who knew her dedicated, loyal, steadfast, and loving. Her radiant smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering grace will be forever missed but always remembered.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Oreette's medical team at Johnston-Willis Hospital. We are eternally grateful for the compassionate and exceptional care you provided.
