Oliver Lee
Johnson, Jr. "OJ/Pat"
Oct 2, 1947 — Aug 23, 2026
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." Scripture — John 1:12
Oliver Lee Johnson, Jr. was born on October 2, 1947, to the late Oliver Lee Johnson, Sr. and the late Burnell Robinson Johnson. He was the oldest son and the second of twelve children born to this union.
Affectionately known as "OJ or Pat," Oliver was baptized at an early age and became a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church. His faith remained an important part of the foundation upon which he built his life.
Upon graduating from the George Washington Carver High School, Chester, VA (68), Oliver was immediately drafted into the United States Army, where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam conflict. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned home and began working for the American Tobacco Company, where he was employed for many years. After the closure of American Tobacco, Pat continued his career with Chesterfield County Public Schools. Following years of dedicated service, he retired from the workforce.
Pat was a hardworking man who loved his family deeply. To know him was to love him. His presence, personality, and the memories he created with those around him will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Queenie E. Johnson, who passed away on July 10, 2023.
Pat leaves to cherish his memory to his sisters, Elder Ruth Holman, Gladys Hall (James), Shella Jones, Rosa Johnson, Alice Johnson, Marcia Harris, Cynthia Harris (David), and Florence Shackleford; his brothers, Emmett Johnson (Lucy), Reuben Johnson, Sr., and Horace Johnson (Gladys Faye); one aunt, Julia McGill; sister-in-law, Viola Crockett (Leroy); and a brother-in-law, Percy Crockett.
Pat also lovingly embraced the role of stepfather to Mattie L. Crockett and Arthur Jones. He was affectionately known as "Granddad" to Bernita and Antwon, whom he raised from an early age and loved as his own.
He was also deeply loved and cherished by grandchildren: Lakeisha, Tiana, Adrian, and Destiny, along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
Oliver Lee Johnson, Jr. lived a life of service to his country, his community, and most importantly, his family. Although his earthly journey has ended, the love he gave, the lessons he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
His life was a blessing.
His memory will be treasured.
His love will remain in our hearts forever.
