God, in His wisdom, called our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Mrs. Myrtis E. Williams, home on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Myrtis accepted Christ at an early age at her home church, New Hope CME Church in Salem, Alabama. She graduated from Wacoochee High School in Salem. Soon after graduation, she met and married William A. Williams.
For twenty years, Myrtis embraced life as a military wife, making homes with her family in Texas, Germany, Colorado, and Virginia. She worked for KVOR Radio in Colorado Springs and WXEX Channel 8 in Richmond, Virginia.
Myrtis loved visiting her family in Alabama and preparing delicious meals for everyone who came to see her. She also enjoyed playing slot machines, and Dover Downs was her favorite place to visit. The time she spent with her family and the love she shared will remain precious memories.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Willie James Sanks Sr. and Rebecca Miles Sanks; her beloved son, Johnny R. Williams; her sisters, Ethel Lean Jackson, Curtis Jean Williams, and Mary Sanks Kelly; and her brothers, Willie James Sanks and Eddie Roy Sanks.
Myrtis leaves to cherish her memory to her devoted husband, William A. Williams; her devoted daughter, Joy E. Williams, and grandson, Miles A. Williams, both of North Chesterfield, Virginia; her sister, Dorthy Nell Brown of Columbus, Georgia; her nephews, Bobby Sanks (Jeanette) of Salem, Alabama, David Sanks (Gwendolyn) of Columbus, Georgia and John Williams (Tonya) of Opelika, Alabama; her brother-in-law, Donnie Williams of Philadelphia; her nieces, Rebecca Holloway of Lafayette, Alabama, Kathy Brown of Columbus, Georgia, Gloria Owens of Auburn, Alabama, Jacqueline Sanks of Salem, Alabama and Betty Knight (Franklin) of Opelika, Alabama; and a host of other family and friends.
Myrtis will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
