Mildred B.
Goodwyn Dennis
Jan 28, 1940 — Apr 7, 2026
Our hearts were saddened by the passing of our loved one, Mildred Beatrice Goodwyn Dennis. "Auntie", "Bebe", "Bea" or "Sister", as she was affectionately referred to, departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. She was born on January 28, 1940, in Prince George, Virginia to Delia Jones Goodwyn and Howard Goodwyn, Sr.
Mildred was a graduate of the Prince George County Public Schools and continued her educational pursuits at Howard University and Brightpoint Community College (formerly John Tyler Community College), receiving an Associate Degree in Nursing. Mildred's career as a health care professional included employment at Central State Hospital, Greenville Correctional Center and Ashland (formerly Hercules). She concluded her career as a Registered Nurse upon retiring from Ashland after many years of service.
Mildred was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church-Disputanta. She served on the Trustee and Missionary Ministries. She was both a knowledgeable and dedicated health care professional who selflessly cared for and assisted family members, neighbors and friends whenever and wherever she was needed. Her family was especially dear to her.
Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Charles Bailey; her parents, Howard and Delia Goodwyn; paternal grandparents, Stephen and Liza Goodwyn; maternal grandparents, Willie and Lonnie Jones; and two brothers, Howard and Everette Goodwyn.
She is survived by a devoted daughter, Rachael Marsh of Colonial Heights, Virginia; devoted sister, Eva Igbodo (Alfred) of Woodbridge, Virginia; sister-in-law, Marlene Goodwyn of Chester, Virginia; five grandchildren, Robert "Lil Rob" Johnson, Jasmine Johnson-Mejia (Marco), DeVonte Johnson, Reginald Marsh, Jr. and Josiah Howard all of Colonial Heights, Virginia; eight great grandchildren, Amir Johnson, Jody Livesay, Messiah Jackson, King Jackson, Elijah Mejia, Jaden Sallis, Mia Johnson and Arelis Marin; two nieces, Shannon Goodwyn Sejour of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Brittany Goodwyn Adugu (Edem) of North Chesterfield, Virginia; four great nieces, Cia Sejour, Phoenix Westbrook, Akushika Adugu and Yayra Adugu: one great-nephew, Star Adugu; one devoted aunt, Nannie Atkins; and a host of cousins.
A special thank you to devoted cousins, Margaret Wyche, Iola Morton, Nancy Bailey and Desiree Jones; and special devoted friends, Al Justice, Audrey and Robert Washington, Diane Wyche and Gerald Wyche who helped care for Mildred and demonstrated many acts of love and kindness during her illness.
A tax-deductible tribute may be made to Chapters Health Hospice in Glen Allen, Virginia in loving memory of Mildred Beatrice Goodwyn Dennis.
