Michael W.
Pegram
Jun 10, 1960 — Apr 14, 2026
Michael W. Pegram, 65, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 14, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1960, in Sussex, Virginia to Martha K. Pegram and the late Willie G. Pegram.
Along with his father, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Belinda Scott; and his brother, Charles King.
Michael received his education from the Sussex County Public School System, where he graduated in 1980. He later dedicated twenty years of service to Hill Phoenix, where he was known as a hardworking and dependable employee until his health began to decline.
Michael lived a life filled with simple pleasures and genuine happiness. He loved fishing, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, listening to old school music—truly, any music that moved his spirit—and working on anything with a motor. He enjoyed being outdoors, sipping his Pepsi or coffee, and riding his beloved red riding mower. Above all, Michael will be remembered for his warm presence and one of the prettiest smiles anyone could ever see.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Lelia Pegram. He was the father to five children: the late Belinda Scott, Cassandra Raines, Michael Raines (Shalaunda), Mitchell Raines and Tavon Raines; and a stepfather to Shannon Jackson (Turon) and Trinidy Bonner. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Briana Scott, Demarius Scott, Michaela Raines, Chandra Jones, Amayah Bonner, Tremaine Bonner, and Beyonca Weaver; and one great grandson, Zachary Duggans.
He also leaves behind eight brothers, Calvin Pegram (Jackie), Casterdaurl Pulliam (Lucy), James Pegram (Lucinda), Carol Pegram, Tracy Pegram (Nicole), Tyrone Pegram, Terrance Moore (Mahailia) and David Moore (Shannon); four sisters, Cynthia Jefferson (Ronnie), Laverne Mayfield, Patricia Boone and Brenda Pegram; along with one uncle, John Pegram; eight sisters-in-law, Floreen Danquah, Gale Ridley, Cynthia Haskins, Emma Ellis, Roxie Jones, Williana Parham, Gertrude Bonner and Vernice Ellis; five brothers-in-law, Arnold Bonner, George Bonner, Theodore Bonner, Walter Bonner and Floyd Bonner; and along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Michael's legacy lives on through the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the values he embodied—hard work, and kindness to family. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
As we celebrate Michael's life, we hold fast to the promise found in Scripture, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. " We trust that Michael now rests in that holy presence, surrounded by divine love and everlasting peace.
His memory will forever remain a blessing.
