Obituary

Michael Crenshaw, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on November 19, 2025. Born to the late Mrs. Lula Crenshaw of Hopewell, VA on July 5, 1949.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Crenshaw, Joe Crenshaw, and David Crenshaw, and his sister, Delores Hargrove.

Michael attended the Hopewell City Public School System, graduating with one of the  first classes after integration, the class of 1969. He proudly served his country in the United States military.  After serving honorably in the military, Michael continued his commitment to hard work through his employment at Hercules, Firestone, and later continued working part-time at 7-Eleven, where he was known for his warm spirit and friendly smile. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, spending time with friends and family, and making others laugh. We cannot overlook his other profound way of connecting with people as he reached out with that iconic phrase that became his mantra—"Let me hold a dollar".

In his later years, Michael joyfully reconnected his life to the Lord at St. Paul's Baptist Church, renewing his faith and strengthening his spiritual walk.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Alice Delane Crenshaw; his children, Shawn Crenshaw (Monica) of Prince George, Virginia, Cordell Wheat (Michelle) of Sutherland, Virginia, Tammy Coleman (Edwin) of South Chesterfield, Virginia, Michelle Crenshaw of Richmond, Virginia, Michael Delane of Maryland, and Brittany Evans; his two brothers, John Crenshaw (Josephine), Portland, Oregon and Aaron Crenshaw (Stephanie), Prince George's Maryland.  He also leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted granddaughter, Michaela, who held a special place in his heart. Michael also had his own meaningful and unique bond with each of his grandchildren: L'trell, Keon, Quortney, Cordell II, Mikala, Khalil, and Kaleb. Their love brought him so much joy, and he valued every moment spent with them. He will be fondly remembered by his beloved nieces and nephews, who admired and loved him, along with a host of other family members and friends who were touched by his life.
