Early Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026, God dispatched his angels to bring "Auntie" Maybelle Vaughan Wallace home to join and be comforted by her parents, Mr. Hamlin Vaughan, Sr. and Lucy Dennis Vaughan; two sisters, Lucille Vaughan Lyons and Vivian Louise Vaughan; three brothers, Clyde Vaughan, Samuel Vaughan and Hamlin Vaughan, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Mr. Floyd W. Wallace, Sr.

Maybelle leaves to cherish her memories: three sisters-in-law, Margaret Vaughan of Waverly, VA, Gertrude Winfield and Naomi Coleman (James) both of Dewitt, Virginia; her best friend, Irene Davis of Petersburg, Virginia; her three favorite girls, goddaughter, Marilyn Stewart of Petersburg, Virginia; nieces, Joyce Dobie of Midlothian, Virginia and Elaine Johns of Waverly, Virginia; nephew, Tony Gilliam of Dewitt, Virginia; god-granddaughter, Essence Stewart of Edgewater New Jersey; special families of Court Street and Wilborne Baptist Church; special friends, Terrence and Rita Winfield, Kathy Gilstrap, Essie Westbrook, Mary Dickson, Raye Walker, Letitia Jones and Tyjuan Crenshaw; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Maybelle graduated from Sussex County Training School Class of 1953 (Waverly, Virginia). After graduating she served on the Class Planning Committee as the Financial Secretary.  Auntie worked for over 25 years at Southside Training Center in Petersburg, Virginia.

She accepted Christ at an early age here at Wilborne Baptist Church where she severed faithfully with the Missionary Ministry, Usher Ministry and the Hospitality Committee until her health declined.

Services will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Wilborne Baptist Church, 7138 Newville Road, Waverly, VA, the Rev. Clarence M. Thweatt, Jr., eulogist. The interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
