On September 13, 2026, Mary Bozier peacefully transitioned from this life in her sleep. Her passing leaves a deep sorrow in the hearts of those who loved her, but her life and memory will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her.
Mary was born and spent her childhood in Clarendon County, South Carolina, before moving to New York City, where she spent her teenage years. Her journey later took her west to the beautiful Monterey Peninsula in California, where she made her home, and raised her three children. After many years in California, Mary began another chapter of her life when she moved to Texas to be closer to her son, Charlie. She later moved to Virginia to be near her daughter, Wendy, allowing her to spend her later years close to family.
Mary dedicated 30 years of service to the City of Seaside Finance Department, building a long and meaningful career while establishing deep roots in her community.
Mary had a natural flair for fashion and a style that was uniquely her own. She loved shopping, dressing beautifully, and expressing herself through fashion. Over the years, she enjoyed serving as an emcee for fashion shows, where her personality and love of style could truly shine.
She also treasured her outings to some of her favorite places, especially San Francisco, Carmel, and Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey. Whether enjoying a day out, shopping, or simply spending time in places she loved, Mary knew how to appreciate life’s special moments.
Throughout her life, Mary was blessed with friendships that grew stronger with time and became an extension of her family. She especially treasured the love and companionship of her dear friends Coreatha, Rose, Gina, and Cynthia who shared many special moments with her over the years. During her time at The Arbor Apartments in Richmond, Virginia, Mary also formed many wonderful friendships, notably Norma and Lisa, who as well became family. She enjoyed gathering with friends in the lobby, where they spent countless hours laughing, playing cards, sipping coffee, and simply enjoying one another’s company. These friendships brought Mary great joy and were a treasured part of her life.
Mary will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the unmistakable presence she carried with her—her sense of style, her independence, her enduring friendships, and the many memories she created along the way. Her journey took her from South Carolina to New York and ultimately to Virginia, but wherever life took her, Mary left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know and love her.
Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. Her life was a blessing to her family, and the love she shared will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Wendy Williams (Greg) and Charlie Wingo Jr.; her grandchildren, Gregory Jr., Abby, and Charlie III; and her siblings, Lee Bozier, Jarriet Bozier (Louise), Willie Bozier (Dorothy), Billie Bozier (Juanita), Carrie Canty, Thelma McBride, Dorothy Bethea, Annie Bozier, and Cindy Bozier.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ben Turner, Jr.; her sisters, Grace Bozier McKinzie and Eva Mae Riley; and her parents, Prince and Mary Lee Bozier.
Although Mary is no longer with us in body, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the place she holds within her family will never be forgotten.
As we mourn her passing, we also give thanks for the life she lived and the time we were blessed to share with her. May the memories of Mary bring comfort in the days ahead, and may her love remain a lasting presence in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Mary. You were deeply loved, and your memory will forever remain in our hearts.
