Martha Q.
Dabney
Feb 19, 1944 — Jun 23, 2026
Mrs. Martha T. Dabney, of Petersburg, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on February 19, 1944, in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, to the late Jesse Daniel Tucker and Elizabeth Green Tucker.
For more than 30 years, Martha was a faithful member of the Halifax Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a gentle, loving, and compassionate woman whose kindness knew no limits. Martha had a heart of pure gold and would gladly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She found joy in helping others, offering encouragement, and making everyone she met feel loved. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love left a lasting impression on countless lives and will never be forgotten.
For 30 beautiful years, Martha shared a loving and devoted marriage with her beloved husband, Wayne A. Dabney. Together they built a life rooted in faith, friendship, laughter, and unconditional love. Through every season of life, they stood hand in hand, creating a lifetime of cherished memories and a beautiful example of commitment that will forever inspire their family.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Daniel Tucker and Elizabeth Green Tucker; her children, Debora Stark, Carl Tucker, and Queen Simmons; her beloved grandson, Sean Buford; her sisters, Ruby Moore and Mary Glover; and her brothers, Jeremiah Tucker, Samuel Tucker (Costella), David Tucker, and Moses Tucker.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving and devoted husband, Wayne A. Dabney; her children, Gwendolyn Lundy and James Tucker Sr. (fiancée Gina Bittle); and her treasured grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart and whom she lovingly called by their childhood nicknames: Gerald Buford ("Miracle Baby"), Chere Lundy ("Twinkle Star"), Charde Summers ("Bright Eyes"), Brionna Perry ("Bunny Bunny"), Marquell Tucker Sr. ("Bossman"), James Tucker Jr. ("The Hulk"), Marcus Tucker ("The Bouncer"), Jessicka Tucker ("Puffy Puff"), and Ashley Simmons Johnson ("Con Eye Girl"). She also leaves behind 14 cherished great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; one loving and devoted brother, Joseph Tucker (Linda) of California; her bonus daughter, Vickie Nixon; son-in-law, Javier Simmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love, including her devoted niece, Karen Woodley.
Although our hearts are filled with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that Martha's legacy of love, generosity, faith, and compassion will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. She was an extraordinary wife, a devoted mother, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, a loving sister, a cherished aunt, and a faithful friend. She loved deeply, gave freely, and made everyone around her feel like family.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 575 Old Wagner Road, Petersburg, VA. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
