Lorenzo Lee
Coleman
Jul 3, 1956 — Jan 13, 2026
Lorenzo Lee Coleman entered eternal rest on January 13, 2026, at HCA Virginia Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 3, 1956, in Prince George, Virginia, to the late Sidney and Thelma Coleman.
Lorenzo was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Pate Coleman, his sister Glenda Coleman; his brothers, Sidney "Leon" Coleman (Wanda) and Morris Coleman; his nephews, Anthony "Amp" Coleman and Shandell "BD" Coleman; and his stepsister, Monica Wooden.
Lorenzo attended the Prince George County Public School System in Prince George, Virginia. He later began his working career at Fort Lee where he worked as a supervisor with the Government Lawn Service for over ten years. He then transferred to Econo Cleaning Services, where he worked faithfully for many years alongside his sisters and brother, building not only a career but lasting family memories.
Lorenzo attended TLB Outreach for Christ Church in Hopewell, Virginia where he enjoyed being in the house of the Lord with his family and volunteering on the hospitality team. His willingness to help and welcoming spirit were evident to all.
Lorenzo was truly one of a kind. He was the true meaning of strength. He never let anything get in his way. Though known by many names, he was affectionately called "Cutt" or "Lo" by those who loved him most. He had a way of lighting up any room with his warm smile, laughter and joyful presence. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him each and every one of them. Spending time with family, cracking jokes, laughing, and creating memories brought him his greatest joy. He was known for his smooth two-step at the family cookouts and his love for fishing and taking rides to the beach. When Lorenzo was driving, he proudly took on the role of the family and friends "Taxi," always willing to give rides and make sure everyone got to where they needed to go. Lorenzo loved good food, and as everyone knew, he did not play about his meals, especially when it came to Aunt Mary's lemon cake, rice pudding and chicken salad. He enjoyed relaxing while watching his favorite show, Rifleman. He shared a special bond with his sisters and brothers-in-law, who were always there whenever he called, especially Mary. His nieces and nephews were wrapped around his finger, and he cherished every moment with them. Lorenzo was deeply loved and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his children: Lorenzo "ROC" Coleman, Tinesha Coleman (Denzel) and Shardae Coleman (Temond) all of Hopewell, Virginia. He is also survived by his siblings: Christine Barnes (James) and Mary Coleman both of Prince George, Virginia, Michelle Pierce of Hopewell, Virginia; brothers-in-law, Bernard Tucker of Hopewell, Virginia, Mark Pate of Dinwiddie, Virginia; sister-in-law, Linda Johnson of Hopewell, VA; stepfather, Harry Pierce of Hopewell, Virginia; bonus siblings, Harry Pierce, Jr., Ronzell Pierce, Diane Smith, Mildred Jones and Jaqueline Longhorn; aunts, Elsie Coleman, Marguerite Bowman, Helen Bowman Coleman and Mildred Batts, and uncle, Bobby Coleman. Lorenzo was a proud grandfather to Najionna, Anthony, Antonio, Antroine, Lorenzo Jr., Djuan, Lorenz, Nyvonte, and Clareona; and a loving great grandfather to Aiden, Damari, Khijuan, Kymir, and Che'lahni. He also leaves behind his loving nieces and nephews, Chanika (Ben), Gregory "MJ", Shawn, Dee, Juwan, Tyvell, and Tyreeque, along with a host of great nieces, great nephews, close cousin, Wesley Peterson; and other relatives, and many dear friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Third Baptist Church, 500 Farmer Street, Peterburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Kassandra Bullock, Pastor, and Pastor Marvin Johnson, eulogist. The interment to follow at the Coleman Family Cemetery.
