It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Lloyd Powell, Jr., a devoted husband, beloved father, cherished son, and gentle soul, who departed this life on June 29, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born on July 13, 1949, in Prince George, Virginia, Lloyd lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and an abiding love for his family. He approached each day with compassion, grace, and humility, and a genuine sense of peace.

Lloyd was the beloved husband of Ruth Powell, with whom he shared 50 beautiful years of marriage. Their partnership was one of warmth, laughter, and deep respect - a testament to the love they nurtured together each day. He was a devoted father to Dewayne, Tamara, Wanda, David, and Henry Saunders, who will forever remember his calm guidance, unconditional support, and the countless ways he made them feel seen, heard, and loved. As a father, he was both a steady hand and a soft place to fall.

Lloyd was the treasured son of Lloyd and Queen Powell, and was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda, Robert Lee, Lawrence, and Leroy; with one surviving sibling, Lance Powell. His bond with his family was a foundation of his life - one built on love, loyalty, and enduring connections. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his generosity of spirit and gentle heart.

Lloyd was a quiet pillar of strength and grace - never seeking attention but always offering support. Whether sharing laughter around the dinner table, lending a hand when no one asked, or offering words of wisdom in difficult times, he made the world a better place simply by being in it.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we had with him and for the love he so freely gave. His spirit will live on in the lives he touched and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, 7324 Church Road, North Dinwiddie, VA.
