Lloyd M.
Banks "Mac"
Jul 12, 1951 — May 30, 2026
Mr. Lloyd McDonald Banks, affectionately known as "Mac," transitioned peacefully on May 30, 2026, at Colonial Heights Rehabilitation Center in Colonial Heights, Virginia.
Mac was born July 12, 1951, to the late James Gravely and Dorothy Lawrence Woodley. He received his education in the Petersburg Public Schools.
Over the years, Mac built a remarkable and enduring career in food service. He worked at Central State Hospital, Old Country Buffet, Piccadilly, and other local establishments.
Later in life, he didn't stop serving; he just served in a different way. He dedicated his life to preparing meals for shelters, family gatherings, weddings, and funerals always with a spirit of generosity and a desire to help others he cared for. And while he cooked for many, his heart was especially tied to the residents of Sycamore Towers, where he lived for many years.
In later life, Mac's faith became both foundation and refuge. He was baptized and joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr. Mac leaves behind a legacy that is grounded in gratitude to God, and love for his family and friends.
Mac was preceded in death by his step-father, David Woodley, Sr.; brothers, James Alphonso Banks and Barry Banks; his nieces, Erica Woodley and Terelle Wiggins; and his nephew, Damian Warren.
He leaves to cherish his memory four devoted siblings: Barbara Jean Warren of Petersburg, Virginia; Terry Wiggins (Spencer) of South Chesterfield, Virginia; David Woodley (Angel) of Houston, Texas; and Ira Woodley of Petersburg, Virginia. He also leaves to cherish his memory his dear aunts, Barbara Pope and Geraldine Lawrence; his loving sisters-in-law, Melba Walker Banks, Karen Woodley, and Sonya Woodley; along with a host of beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
The family extends special thanks to Bon Secours Hospital, VCU Medical Center, and the staff of Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. As well as heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mercy Bradshaw and her staff for their excellent care and service.
Services will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Bishop Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., eulogist. The interment will be held 2:00 P.M. at Southlawn Memorial Park.
