Leroy Allen Powell, Sr., affectionately known as "Puddin", was born November 10, 1951, to the late Queen and Lloyd Powell, Sr. He departed this life on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA.

Leroy attended Peabody and Petersburg High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army. Leroy worked at Central State hospital for many years and was also a sous-chef at the Country Club of Virginia.

Along with his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Powell and Shirley Robinson; grandson, Corby Powell, Sr; and his nephew, George "Neco" Reeves.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Leroy Allen Powell, Jr. and Takesha Jones; grandchildren, Amon Rayford, Aron Drumheller, Jarshirra Gordon, Keashia Gordon and James Gordon; one great grandson, Corby Powell, Jr.; brothers, Lloyd Powell, Jr. (Ruth) and Lance Powell, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, March 29, 2025 in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Edward L. Fox III, eulogist.
