Kevin M. Johnson, Sr.

Mr. Kevin M. Johnson, Sr. of Petersburg, VA quietly entered into rest on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. He was born on October 18,1968, to Audrey Johnson and James Johnson. Kevin attended and graduated from Petersburg High School.

Kevin enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, and writing and performing his poetry. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time on Sundays watching football games. Kevin also loved to cook and spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elenor and Rev Henry Kizzie; aunts, Patricia Ward, Marion Brown, Mary Zelma Hoosier, Anne Riggins, Martha Barnes and Adele Batten; two uncles, James Kizzie and Henry Kizzie, Jr. and his cousin, Edwin Kizzie.

Kevin leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Audrey and James Johnson; son, Kevin Johnson, Jr. (Angel); daughter, Kiara Johnson; two grandsons, Kamari Williams and Kobe Singleton; two granddaughters, Kasey Johnson and Khari Johnson; two sisters, Regina Johnson and Ashley Johnson; two brothers, Darryl Johnson (Renee) and Harold Johnson (Arnecia); one niece, Essence Mitchell; and five nephews, Jalen Johnson, Keino Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Kendall Johnson, and Camden Jones; two aunts, LaBarbara Sherrill and Jacqueline Roney; mother of his children, Patrice Brown; and a host cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 24, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Bishop Jeffrey L. Reaves, Sr., eulogist, the Rev. Barry O. Brown, Sr., officiating.
