Kate S. Mason

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Kate S. Mason, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, relative, friend, and faithful servant of God. Kate peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, faith, and devotion to her family.

Kate was born in Stony Creek, Virginia, on December 12, 1935. She was the fifth child born to the late Willie and Florence Myler.

On September 6, 2026, Kate answered the Master’s call to come on home and rest from labor to reward. Kate was preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal Mason; siblings, Willie G. Myler, Dorothy Epps, Raymond Myler, Sr., and Onell M. Flowers.

She professed her Lord and Savior at an early age at her home church, First Baptist Church, Stony Creek, where she grew up.

Kate graduated from Peabody High School and later attended Virginia State University. She met and fell in love with Howard Mason, and they later married. Out of that union, they produced two beautiful children. Later in life, they moved their family to Brooklyn, New York.

Kate lived in New York for over 40 years, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship. She was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and caring heart. To know Kate was to experience genuine kindness and unconditional love. She had a special gift for making others feel welcome and valued.

Kate retired from Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company in New York, where she worked well over 35 years. While in New York, she joined The Upper Room Baptist Church, where she was delighted in serving in the Trustee, Deaconess, and Choir Ministries.

After her transition back to Virginia, Kate joined God Mission of Faith under the leadership of Bishop Virginia Graham. Kate was a devoted and loyal member who loved to praise the Lord and fulfill her duty to serve God’s people.

Kate leaves behind to cherish her sweet memories: one devoted, loving, and caring daughter and caregiver, Karen Mason; one special and dedicated grandson, Devon Mason; one sister, Carolyn Myler; and one sister-in-law, Kathleen Smith; a host of nieces and nephews who were the apples of their Aunt Kate’s eye. They all had a special place in her heart. Many cousins and friends, too numerous to name, will also cherish her memory.

One of Kate’s greatest joys was cooking for her family and friends. Her kitchen was a place where love was shared through every meal she prepared. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a family celebration, or a simple visit with loved ones, Kate delighted in bringing people together around her table. Her meals nourished both the body and the soul, creating treasured memories that will be remembered for generations.

Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. We take comfort in knowing that she has entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior and has received the promise of eternal life.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:23

Kate Mason's life was a beautiful testimony of love, faith, and devotion. May her memory forever be a blessing to all who were privileged to know and love her.
