Katanya S.
"Tonnie" Williams
May 22, 1976 — Mar 22, 2025
On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Katanya S. Williams of Hopewell, Virginia, made a quiet transition from her earthly home to her eternal home in glory.
Katanya, lovingly known as Tonnie, was born on May 22, 1976, in Richmond, Virginia, to Cherlie Jackson and the late Edmond Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Keith Jackson, and her beloved grandson, Ja'marion Williams.
A proud resident of Hopewell, Tonnie attended Hopewell High School and built a life surrounded by family, friends, and laughter. She was known for her competitive spirit — never missing the chance to whip someone in a good game of spades — and for her love of reading, cheering on her favorite football team, the New England Patriots, and taking long, peaceful naps. But nothing brought her more joy than being a grandmother and showering her grandchildren with love.
In her professional life, Katanya dedicated over 15 years to serving as a nursing assistant, caring for others with compassion and grace. Most recently, she provided mental health services to adolescent boys aged 11 to 17 in the Chesterfield area — a role that showcased her heart for nurturing and guiding others.
Katanya leaves behind her loving children, Shenekka Williams, Ja'Quon Williams, Rae'Quon Williams, Ronnie Monroe, Jr. and loving bonus children, Reon Chapman, Keon Chapman, and Da'Quon Chapman. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Keith Tucker, Jr., Madison Beckwith, Skylar Monroe, and Ja'sai Williams. She is also survived by her mother, Cherlie Jackson; siblings, Eric Williams, Tamiko Jackson, Jamaro Jackson, and Tess Elden; nieces, Mariah Tims, Zaire Tims, Ashley Shands, Erica Williams, and Jamiyah Jackson; nephews, devoted-Rashad Tims (Wife Latasha), Amir Tims, Azari Tims, Tyja Pollard, Elijah Ballard, Jamari Jackson, and Daryl Rives. Katanya will be dearly missed by her devoted friend, Harold Monroe; and her close-knit circle of friends, Wakenda Reid, Cathy Harris, Vanette Taylor, Mary Berry, Lequita Davis, Bernice Cotman, and Simona Gholson; a host of loving family members who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Though Tonnie has departed from this life, her light, laughter, and love remain with all who knew her.
Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Thursday, April 3, 2025, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Elder LaTasha Monroe, eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
