Joseph Pete Walker, 92, of Petersburg, Virginia departed this life on February 9, 2026, at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1933, to the late Alpheus Walker and Pauline Walker in Dinwiddie, Virginia.

Joseph, affectionately known as "Joe Pete", received his education from the Dinwiddie County Public School System. He served in the United States Army and was later employed with Virginia Linen Service. In his spare time, Joe Pete enjoyed going fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy May Walker; brother, Elijah Walker; and his sister, Adlean Hayes Thorpe.

Joe Pete leaves to cherish his memories his nephew who he considered his son, Donald Smith (Velveeta); a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, special friend, Allie Henderson; other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 19, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Kassandra Bullock, eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
