Jonathan A. Moretz

Jonathan Aaren Moretz, 22, passed away on September 1, 2026. Some may have known him as “Jay.” He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Jonathan was a remarkable young man who brought a unique light into the lives of those around him. Through his love of Xbox and online gaming, he formed friendships with people around the world—many of whom he may never have met in person, but who cared for him deeply. These friendships were meaningful to Jonathan, and those who knew him through gaming will always remember his friendship, personality, humor, and the time they shared together.

Jonathan appreciated the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed fishing, playing video games, and especially going muddin'. He had a special ability to create lasting memories and leave a meaningful impression on the people around him. His laughter, friendship, and distinctive personality will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew and loved him.

Jonathan leaves behind his loving parents, Dwayne Moretz and stepmother Terri Moretz, and Jennifer Anderson and stepfather Brian Anderson. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Damien Moretz, and sister-in-law, Stephanie Moretz.

One of the most precious relationships in Jonathan’s life was with his only nephew, Devin Moretz. Jonathan cherished being an uncle and shared a special bond with Devin that will always be treasured. Devin was more than just his nephew—he was someone Jonathan loved deeply and was proud to have in his life. The memories they shared will remain forever in Devin’s heart and in the hearts of the entire family.

Jonathan’s maternal grandmother, Peggy Lewis, survives him and will forever cherish his memory.

Jonathan is also survived by his stepsister, Raven Walston, and Raven’s husband, Kyle Walston.

Jonathan was deeply loved by his great paternal aunt, Lynn Macauther Pellman, and uncle, Chuck Pellman; and his beloved aunt, Joanna Brockwell, and her husband, Marc Brockwell.

He leaves behind cousins who loved him dearly, including Marc Brockwell Jr., Alyssa, Ember-Leaf, Remington, Dylan McCormack, Joey Pedro, and Yasa Mack, as well as numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and loved ones.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Garry Moretz and Bobbie Moretz; his maternal step-grandfather, Jack Lewis; his maternal grandfather, James Winfield; and his maternal step-grandmother, Brenda Winfield.

Although Jonathan’s time with us was far too short, he filled his life with the things he loved—fishing, gaming, muddin', making memories, and connecting with people who became important to him. The friendships he formed, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jonathan leaves behind a legacy of memories that will never be forgotten. His family, friends, and gaming community around the world will carry his memory with them and remember the unique person he was.

Fly high, Jonathan. You will be loved, missed, and remembered always.
