Jean C. Winbush Sykes of Petersburg, VA departed this life on February 18, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, dedication, and vibrant spirit.

Born to Isaac and Bessie Scott Winbush, Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her devoted sister, Lois Parham, whose memories she held dear.

Mom's journey in life was marked by a deep commitment to caring for others. Her passion for healing led her to San Francisco Community College, where she diligently pursued her studies in nursing. She dedicated herself to her profession, lending her compassionate touch across numerous hospitals, nursing homes, and through private duty care, impacting countless lives with her warmth and skill.  Jean was a woman of strong community ties, faithfully serving for five years with the Order of the Eastern Star before returning home to Virginia.

Jean's greatest joy and enduring legacy were her family. She was a devoted mother to Felicia Pegram and Staci Wright, who will forever cherish her vibrant spirit along with her five grandchildren, Max and Darius Spencer, Jazmin Ferguson, Jecholiah Evans, and Jaaziel Keffer. Her joy multiplied with her twelve great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters, her sister, Patricia Robb; her devoted nephews, Derek Parham and Michael Robb, Jr.; her niece, Nikita Pha; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Pastor Carlessia Hall, eulogist.
