Janice Denise Graves, 66, of Waverly VA, transitioned peacefully on May 8, 2026. She was born on November 7, 1959, at home to Lena Baines and Richard Baines, Sr.

Janice attended Sussex County Public School and was a 1980 Class Graduate. She attended Liberty Baptist Church at an early age and later returned to rededicate her life three years ago.

Janice was a dedicated worker and held various jobs throughout her lifetime. Her latest roles were held at Sussex County Public School where she served as a bus aide, then a custodian. Janice also ran her own professional cleaning business where she gained lifetime friendships with Mrs. Shelby and Ms. Terry of Prince George, VA, and others in her community.

Janice loved to laugh, spend time with her family, attend church, and help others. Her kind and joyful spirit was contagious, making her easy for everyone to love.

Janice was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Baines; her father, Richard Baines, Sr.; her husband, Ernest M. Graves; and her two brothers, Herman Lee Jackson and Richard Baines, Jr.

Janice leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Omar Graves of Prince George, Marcus Graves (La'Tisha) of Williamsburg and Autorn Graves (Felicia) of Chester; five grandchildren, Destiny, La'Raya, Alanii, Amira and Kamilla; two sisters, Patricia Edwards and Tealena Garrett (Larry); two brothers, Bobby Lynn (Ora Lee) and Curtis Baines (Tovelta); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 22, 2026, at Liberty Baptist Church, 319 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, VA, the Rev. Bobby Ricks, Sr., M. Div., Pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow at Waverly Cemetery.
