On Saturday, September 20, 2025, God in His infinite wisdom called home, Mr. Hosea "Secret Squirrel" Holcomb III, age 67, of Petersburg, Virginia.  He was born on January 3, 1958, in Petersburg, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, Hosea Holcomb, Jr., grandmother, Cora Cooley and a devoted companion of 38 years, Betty Browder.

Hosea's love for transportation started his career at Holiday Inn as a Shuttle Driver and then driving for Petersburg Public Schools as a School Bus Driver. Eventually Hosea started driving as a long-distance truck driver for several trucking companies.

He had several nicknames over the years, his father gave him the name  "Sputnuk", and his grandmother gave him "Bubba" but he did not care for that either, so he gave himself the name "The Secret Squirrel". Hosea loved his life whether it was roller skating at the skating rink or in the parade, he would always give his friends a show.

Hosea had a great love for music and one of his favorites was Michael Jackson. He saw Michael Jackson do the moonwalk and he was hooked. So, at any family function you would surely get a moonwalk or a wobble in.  Hosea also loved throwing horseshoes, and his favorite food was a large plate of pig feet.  He had several people he kept in rotation to cook him his favorite dish.

Hosea is survived by his devoted and loving mother, Celia McKeever; two devoted siblings, his sister, Lisa H. Yates of Petersburg, Virginia and his brother, Lawrence Holcomb (Tonya) of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Hosea Holcomb IV of Skippers, Virginia; his God given children, Sonta Burckett (Vince), Jamar Nicholas, Soweto Mason-Nicholas, Quint Nicholas (Shamiah), and Marlon Browder (Breanna) all of Virginia; grandchild, Jaylee Lashay Holcomb of Virginia; God giving grandchildren, Noah Birckett, Nila Birckett, Jordan Nicholas, Anothony Sotos, Konya Mason, Nyeon Mason, Cherish Mason, Dontrell Johnson, Eric Mason, Quint Nicholas, Jr., Malaysia Browder and Marlon Browder, Jr. all of Virginia; God giving great grandchildren, JaNaylah Johnson and Dontrell Johnson, Jr. both of Virginia; loving and devoted nephew, Deon Charles of Petersburg, Virginia; aunts, loving and devoted Brenda Battle of Petersburg, Virginia, Patricia Holcomb of New York, Darlene Gibbs (Dallas), Vanessa Clanton, Cassandrea Jones, Gwendolyn Jones, Paulette Allen and Paula Jones; a host of loving and devoted cousins, in-laws and friends.
