Georgette Farren Byrum, 69, of Waverly, Virginia, departed this life on December 23, 2025, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia.

Georgette was born on June 30, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York to the late George Elias Rieman and Dorothy Elaine Kane Rieman. She grew up on Long Island and moved to Virginia in 1996.  She was a great cook, and she was lucky enough to turn her passion for it into a career.  She worked hard, loved to laugh and she was always there to support her friends and family with advice or a helping hand.  Most people would say she was the life of the party.

Georgette loved to create, design and craft and she was talented enough to sell so many things throughout her life (most will remember the chocolate candy she made years ago on Long Island). She loved to bake, paint, crochet, play cards with her grandkids, go out to lunch with her friends and shop. She loved animals and always had a rescue or two at home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Alvin Byrum, Jr., who passed on December 4, 2020, and their two beloved dogs, Bonnie and George.

Georgette is survived by her children, Jason Kevin Farren, Lea Farren Elliott and her husband Whitney, and Jacob Parke Byrum; grandchildren, Farren Sommer, Aidan James Sommer, Gemma Isabelle Farren, Madison Hudson, Mackenzie Byrum, Travis Byrum, Lucas Cole Byrum and Austin, Briana and Caden Elliott; her sister, Elaine Awand Stearley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Georgette considered the Byrum and Farren families as family of her own and remained close to them all.  Her friends meant the world to her, she was loyal, generous and devoted to every lucky person she called a friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Beaverdam Sportsman Club, 8424 Beaverdam Road, Waverly, VA.
