George L. Hancock, Jr., 83, of Chester, Virginia, departed this life on September 23, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1942, in Chester, VA, to Margaret Moses Hancock and George L. Hancock, Sr.

George served his country with honor in the United States Army, where he was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. He carried the values of honor, courage and dedication throughout his life, he continued his career at the Defense General Supply Center where he worked faithfully until his retirement.

Above all, George was a devoted and loving family man. He cherished every moment spent with his family, finding his greatest joy in the love they shared together. His kindness and unwavering devotion to family will be remembered always.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence Pergerson Hancock; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Friend and Ms. Dorothy Hancock; and his brother, John Henry Hancock.

George leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted sister, Julia Harris; beloved son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Theresa Pergerson; three grandchildren, Jessica (Khuldiph) Pergerson, Jennifer Pergerson Francis (Tex Francis), and Charles Bradley Pergerson; five great grandchildren, Jayden Pergerson, Teyrone Khuldiph, Kamya Khuldiph, Jasiah Francis, and Layla Francis; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 29, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA, the Rev. Ralph Friend, eulogist.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the funeral establishment.
